On the anniversary of the Constitutional Revolution in Iran, Mir Hossein Mousavi reviewed the goals and outcomes of this movement and the future prospect facing the nation today."We are on the anniversary of the Constitutional Revolution and the echo of the name of the Constitutional Movement gives the message of the necessity to restrain power. Alongside demands for justice, freedom and the rule of law efforts for restricting power is one of the achievements of the endeavor and sacrifices of our ancestors.Today, witnessing the signs of regeneration of dictatorship, tyranny, narcissism and disregard for the law, and the everyday growing of the rule of lies show that the undertaken path has not yet reached its destination. Oppression, injustice and suppression, no matter at the time of Naser-Alldin Shah, or at the time of Pahlavis or the Islamic Republic are unacceptable and in the Islamic Republic oppressions and injustices are even worse because these crimes are done under the name of Islam. The experience of the recent hundred years and [especially] what happened over the past year shows that among all the key elements of the Constitutional Revolution such as justice, freedom and the rule of law, restricting the power and holding it accountable have the most fateful importance of all. Today in the name of religion the nation is repeatedly demanded for unquestionable obedience in front of the power centers without referring to the right of the people to control their fates or mentioning the innate dignity of human rights or the citizen rights...If we look correctly, today no obstacle can be seen for stopping the extension and spread of tyranny. Therefore paying attention to the history of the Constitutional Movement teaches us that fighting to find mechanisms and methods that can restrict the power is the most important aspect of the peaceful resistance, which our nation have started a new round of it. A portion of the demands of the Green Movement is clearly demonstrating this aspect of nation’s current struggle." / Part of Mir Hossein Mousavi's Note on The Anniversary of The Constitutional Revolution - August 2010
